them. I am informed that Mr Borell is the discoverer of the propagation of the Sugar cane from seed. I notice also that on the opposite page Mr Morris, the Assist Director at Kew pays a special and remarkable tribute to the work accomplished under Mr. Bovell's superintendence. Is there no Society or institution - such as the Society of Arts, which can be moved to obtain some recognition of Mr. Bovell's work?. If I were remaining in Barbados (I am leaving the island tomorrow) I would use my best endeavours to assert Mr Bovell's claims to any medal or distinction given for botanical research and work. I am pleased with the reading and writing in the Reformatory lads School and gratified to learn that only 15 per Cent are reconvicted after leaving the Institution.
